How Old Do You Have to Be to Rent an Exotic Car in Miami?

How Old Do You Have to Be to Rent an Exotic Car in Miami?

This is one of the first questions every client asks Legend's Rentals, usually before they've even picked a car. The honest answer is: it depends on the vehicle and the owner we're working with, but there's a general shape to it we can walk you through before you start planning.

The Age Question

Across the South Florida exotic rental market we operate in, 25 is the most common baseline minimum age. Plenty of owners we work with will go down to 21 with a young-driver surcharge added on, and a smaller number will go as young as 18 depending on the specific car. There's no single industry-wide rule — it genuinely varies vehicle to vehicle, which is exactly why we confirm it directly rather than quoting you a blanket policy.

Insurance

Full coverage is the standard we hold every booking to: liability at minimum, with collision and comprehensive strongly preferred or required outright. Most owners want to see proof of your own personal auto insurance that extends to a rental of this kind, and if it doesn't, we help arrange supplemental coverage before keys change hands.

Security Deposit

Deposits typically run anywhere from $2,000 to $10,000, held on a valid credit card in the renter's name, scaling with the value of the vehicle. A six-figure car is going to carry a heavier hold than something more modest — makes sense once you think about it from the owner's side, and we always tell clients the number up front so nothing's a surprise at pickup.

License and Driving Record

A valid driver's license is required everywhere we operate, and international licenses are accepted by most of our vehicle owners. A clean driving history matters too — most are looking for no DUIs or major violations in the past three to five years.

Why We Confirm Everything Ourselves

Legend's Rentals works as a broker connecting you directly with vehicle owners rather than running one uniform fleet policy, so the exact age, deposit, and insurance requirements can shift slightly depending on which car and which owner you're working with. We confirm the specifics for your exact vehicle before you book, so there are no surprises on pickup day — that's the entire reason to book through us instead of cold-calling owners yourself.

Planning to make it a full Miami weekend? Ask us about pairing the car with a yacht charter for a day on the water or a private villa to stay in — we broker all three, so one conversation with our team covers the whole trip.
